While I was at my Mom's visiting in July I remembered seeing a Bible that had been presented to one of our Pember relatives. It had no actual pages for entering the information in so it had been entered on some blanks pages.

Matelon J. Pember

I hope I have transcribed this correctly.

I am not exactly sure if Florance [Florence] is Matelon J. Pember's mother or not. I have not been able to find a marriage record for Florence to James Pember (whom I believe to be Matelon's father). She could possibly be Florence Alsina Goodwin.

I have found several different Marriage records for Matelon (different spellings of first name) J. Pember and some M. J. Pember but none to Christiana Sauer or Christine Sauer.

I have M. J. Pember to Lydia Jane Dotts 3 Apr 1890 in Angola, Steuben, Indiana

Then I have his last wife as Barbara J. [Stellwag] Schmitzer whom he married in 1929 per Barbara obituary.

It does appear that Florence may be Matelon's mother. I have not been able to find a birth record for him only the record in the Bible presented to him from Mr. and Mrs. Wm Jenkins. So I do not know for sure if all these marriage records are for the same Matelon Pember or not.

Looking at SAR Records

I have been looking at the SAR records on ancesty.com. So far I have looked at Pember, Sewell. I need to finish looking at Sewell. I need to look at as many as possible before the free offer ends.
ancestry.com has a lot of great records. I know I will not get thru them all but have to give it my best shot.

Well I'm off on my search. See ya all later!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

I have been busy

I have been a busy girl this past week. I have been searching for my Great Grandma Christina Sauer's marriage to my Great Grandpa Matelon Pember. I know they had to have married sometime after Jan. 30, 1906 and by Aug. 30, 1907. She died on Aug. 30, 1907 after giving birth to my Grandpa Arnold M. Pember on Aug. 30, 1907 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, USA. She had previously married Walter E. Rose in Jackson, Jackson, Michigan, USA on Jan. 30, 1906.

I have searched Indiana Marriages and Ohio Marriages using Christina Sauer and Christina Rose and M. Pember, Matelon Pember with no luck. The Michigan Marriage counties I have searched so far are Jackson, Wayne, Oakland, Hillsdale, Ingham, and Washtenaw. I'm kind of at a lose for now until more records are released as to where to look. I'm almost considering looking in Canada. Her Death Certificate has her as Christina Pember, married, Father Wm Sauer, mother unknown.

I haven't found a birth certificate yet for my Grandpa Pember. I believe my mom told me his Dad stole him from the hospital and changed his name from Joseph to Arnold.

I also have been working on linking up more of my images to my Legacy Family Tree Program. I really need to get myself organizing a bit better. I'm getting there slow but steady.

I have to erase my My Passport hard drive again because I oopsed and let windows backup there again. This time I think I will just copy everything I want on My Passport hard drive individually and then only plug it in when I have added new things that I want to save on it.

So far I have only used Dropbox to save my blogs and blog templates. I haven't decided what else I want to send there. I'll do more probably after I get my organizing done. I have way to much in photos, documents, and my data from Legacy Family Tree to use it because I can't afford to buy extra space. But I think once I get my organizing done I will be putting my favorites in there so that if I'm at another location I will be able to log in to my account and use my favorites. I haven't figured out if I can automatically have my blog posts go directly to Dropbox or not.

I am still learning all the features of my Legacy Family Tree Program. I just had been entering what I found and if I remembered would put a source citation in (not in the proper way). So I have some fixing to do there. I just love when Geoff has a flash webinar. So far he has had one on Death Certificate and Marriage Record. It is fun to watch him doing it. I would be way to nervous and really goof up. And listening to suggestions and questions is really helpful. Sometimes he drops little hints about what is coming up in Legacy. I was so glad when I finally had saved up enough money to get the Deluxe Edition. It's only $29.95 but when you are on a limited budget it can take along time to save up. But even with just the Standard Edition you can do a lot.

I was finally able to see DearMyrtle's webinar on TweetDeck and learned how to use it. I also set up the Internet Genealogy Toolbar. (Forgot the address but Randy Seaver I believe had it suggested on his blog). I don't know if I set it up completely right or not but I can use it pretty good. But my yahoo!mail can't be used thru it because I have rocketmail.com instead of ymail.com.

I've had to switch to Mozilla Firefox as my browser because after Adobe Flashplayer updated my Internet Explorer 9 I was not able to view images on Footnote.com or familysearch.org. I installed and uninstalled it 3 or 4 times. Then I looked at the help on Footnote and finally installed Firefox and reinstalled Adobe Flashplayer and was able to view images with no problems.

I want to put a facebook badge on my blog but don't know which one to use. I have a twitter one on my blog but it only puts my tweets on here. Haven't figured out how to get all the tweets rolling that I get. I'm not sure what gadget to use for that. What can I say I'm a slow learner.

My niece Tonya McQueen is in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan (June 2-4) for Special Olympics. I don't know what region she is in but she is from Columbiaville, Lapeer, Michigan, USA. She has been practicing swimming and I know that is one event she will be participating in. Wish I could watch her. Mt. Pleasant is about 90 minutes or 2 hrs. from me. Sometime our local news has a small segment on but have never seen her cute face on there yet.

Well I better sign off for now and get something done today!!!!

Family Bible possibly of Mary Murphy McGahey

I have a Catholic Family Bible that my Grandpa Arnold M. Pember had in his possession. It is very large and has 2 metal straps that hook to the front cover. Very beautiful bible with gorgeous prints inside. I have not tried to take a picture of this Bible yet.

He stamped his name in different locations in the Bible and on the Presentation page he has stamped in once spot. It appears that someone has covered all the hand writing that was on this page with something like ink correction fluid or something.

This Bible was published by The National Publishing Co
Philadelphia, Pa.; Chicago, Ill.; St. Louis, Mo.; and Atlanta, GA.

Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year, 1880, by J. R. Jones, In the Office of The Librarian of Congress, at Washington, D.C.

My Grandpa Pember always said some of his family came from Ireland and he was always hoping to make it there. I have not been able to make this connection to him yet. He didn't know alot about his family. Someday I hope to get his family found. But more on him later.

Just added BlogTalkRadio

Wasn't sure which one I should put in soooo I put the button and Multi-player in. I was actually listen to the last one. It was pretty interesting.

I added the Mocavo.com search engine to my site. That seems pretty good. Only was on there for a few minutes.

Haven't got my Dropbox all setup yet to do my backups. Still need to erase my passport drive and put my Legacy Family Tree data, pictures, etc. on it. I must quit procrastinating and get it done.

Had to rearrange where I had things plugged into my computer so I could use the USB extension on my Cradlepoint router to plug my Alltel USB internet card into it. Sure wish that they made all the USB devices the same size and that the computer manufacturers would put a little more space between ports. So far today I have not lost cradlepoint. Hope I just didn't jinx myself!!!!

I got a little indexing last night. First time I did any since they started to move to bigger computers, etc. I was able to do it with no problems. I only downloaded 1 batch to try it. Haven't run into any known relatives while indexing yet. But I do enjoy doing it plus it helps get more of it out there for someone else to use.

There is quite a bit of difference between indexing for FamilySearch and Ancestry.com. FamilySearch lets me put the highlights on the document I am indexing so I know I'm in right spot but I can't do that in Ancestry.com or if I can haven't figured it out.

I just wish that when we are searching we could see all the actual documents. Last night while working on my Legacy Family Tree trying to see how Catherine Geddes might be related to Jannis Haas I did a search on FamilySearch.org for Geddes and Haas names in Canada Census records in Egremont. No images available and it doesn't list who was in household for most of the census records, doesn't give Family Id or Household ID or line Reference. Only information for that person. So I am having a hard time with relationship. I did find a family of Gedis that had a Catherine. Eventually maybe I will find the relationship. I was also looking in Ontario records for births, marriages, census along with canada births, marriages, etc. But then was getting to tired to concentrate.

Still looking for more information on my Grandpa Pember's family. His dad was married several times. My Grandpa's mother was Christina Sauer or Sauers and his father was Matelon James Pember. Can't find a marriage record for them or a birth record for Matelon or my Grandpa Arnold Matelon Pember. My mom told me that someone had told my Grandpa that his mother died shortly after giving birth to him and that he had been named Joseph I think she said and his Dad changed his name to Arnold and took him from the hospital. Eventually with all the new records going in all the time maybe I will finally find documents for them. My search continues.

Oh well enough for now. Must get busy doing something. I have a bunch of pictures to put in album that keeps staring at me. Been trying to organize them by person when possible.

Looks like fog is rolling in.

Back at a later time. Have a great evening everyone.
